Michigan running back Donovan Edwards, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter are among six players displayed on the cover of EA Sports College Football 25. The popular video game is set to return after being discontinued 11 years ago. The cover for the deluxe edition of EA College Football 25 was posted at the online PlayStation Store. The game is scheduled to be released in July. It stopped being made amid lawsuits accusing it of using players' likeness without paying them. Other players on the cover are Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck and Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins.

Grand Canyon University and Seattle University will join the West Coast Conference beginning with the 2025-26 season, giving the conference 11 full members for the first time in its history. The two schools are currently affiliated with the Western Athletic Conference. The current WCC membership is mostly based in California. The only two schools outside of the state that are currently full members are Gonzaga and Portland. Grand Canyon and Seattle will compete in 14 of the 16 sports offered by the WCC, but most of the attention will be on basketball.

Missouri State is moving up to the highest tier of Division I college football and joining Conference USA in 2025. The conference and school announced the move. Missouri State will become the 12th full member of CUSA and the third school to move up from the Championship Subdivision to the Bowl Subdivision and join the league over the next two seasons. Conference USA is adding Kennesaw State this season and Delaware is set to join in 2025. Missouri State is a longtime member of the Missouri Valley Conference and has been competing in FCS/I-AA since 1981.

Stanford will now play on Tara VanDerveer Court. The school is naming the court inside Maples Pavilion for the Hall of Fame coach who retired in April as the winningest coach in college basketball. There will be an unveiling and celebration for the court at a home game in November. In addition, the 70-year-old VanDerveer will be honored by having her name associated with one of the assistant coaching positions - 'The Tara VanDerveer Assistant Women's Basketball Coach." VanDerveer's final day of work was Wednesday. She departs with 1,216 career victories over 45 years at Idaho, Ohio State and Stanford.

The University of California Board of Regents is expected to accept a recommendation that UCLA pay University of California at Berkeley $10 million a year for six years as a result of the Bruins' upcoming move to the Big Ten and the demise of the Pac-12. The recommendation was made by UC president Michael Drake and will be voted on during a regents meeting Tuesday at UC Merced. In order for the Regents to affirm UCLA's move to the Big Ten in December, 2022, the university agreed to pay UC Berkeley between $2 million and $10 million because of how the move would affect the Cal athletic program.

Tennessee State has hired seven-time WNBA All-Star Candice Dupree as the Tigers' new women's basketball coach. Athletic director Mikki Allen announced the move Thursday. Dupree is the program's 13th coach all-time. Dupree played 16 seasons in the WNBA as the sixth overall pick in the 2006 draft out of Temple. She played for Chicago, Phoenix, Indiana, Seattle and Atlanta in her career. Dupree then took part in the NBA's assistant coach program before working with San Antonio as a player development assistant. She says it's an honor to be entrusted with upholding TSU's tradition while embracing an evolving sports landscape.

Igor Milicic Jr., one of the top big men in the American Athletic Conference at Charlotte last season, will play his final year at Tennessee. Volunteers coach Rick Barnes announced the addition of the third transfer to join his team for 2024-25. The 6-foot-10, 225-pound Croatian spent his first season at Virginia and the last two at Charlotte. Milicic is coming off his best season. He averaged 12.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 blocks per game and started 30 of 31. In another move, Tyler Nickel will transfer from Virginia Tech to Vanderbilt.

The NCAA has approved a waiver that will allow men's and women's basketball programs to pay for unlimited official recruiting visits to help teams deals with roster depletion caused by transfers, according to a memo obtained by The Associated Press. The Athletic first reported the approval of a blanket waiver by the men's and women's basketball oversight committees. Currently, men's basketball programs are allowed 28 official visits over a rolling two-year period. The number for women's programs is 24. The waiver is effective immediately and the NCAA Division I Council will consider eliminating the cap on official visits in basketball permanently in June.

Brendan Sullivan has announced his transfer from Northwestern to Iowa, a critical addition for a team that has one of its 2023 starting quarterbacks recovering from a major knee injury and saw the other leave after spring practice. Sullivan announced his decision on social media. Sullivan started four games and appeared in six for the Wildcats last season. Iowa had hoped to improve its offense with Michigan transfer Cade McNamara, who started the first five games before he tore the ACL in his left knee. Deacon Hill started the last nine games and entered the transfer portal.
