PARK CITY — A woman was hit by a vehicle in front of Park City High School Thursday and later died at a local hospital, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The incident happened about 7:15 a.m. on Kearns Boulevard near Cooke Drive. The woman, who was not in a crosswalk, was hit by a pickup truck, troopers said.

The woman's identity has not been released. The Park City School District says she was not a district employee or faculty member at the high school.

"Multiple high school students witnessed the incident, and we recognize the emotional impact this may have on them, as well as our broader school community," the school posted on its website. "Mental health coaches are available on-site at Park City High School and throughout the district to support any student or staff member who may need assistance processing this difficult event."

The driver stayed on scene and is cooperating with police.
