CAMARILLO, Calif. (AP) — The average price of gasoline has dropped a penny over the past three weeks, to $2.05 a gallon. Industry analyst Trilby Lundberg says with the slight decline, the price remains the lowest since 2009. Lundberg says prices may continue to go down as crude oil costs drop and refineries run at a high rate.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he has no intention of pushing lawmakers to approve President Barack Obama's request for new war powers to fight the Islamic State group. McConnell said on ABC's "This Week" he fears it could "tie the hands" of the next president. The Obama administration has proposed a three-year authorization.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House chief of staff says a flyover of South Korea by a U.S. B-52 bomber was intended to demonstrate support for the South Koreans. Denis McDonough spoke on CNN. The flight follows a claim by rival North Korea of a successful hydrogen bomb test. No immediate reaction from North Korea's state media to the B-52 flyover.

BURNS, Ore. (AP) — The occupation of a national wildlife area in Oregon by a small, armed group upset over federal land policies has stretched into its second week. The leader of the occupation, Ammon Bundy, has repeatedly rejected calls to leave buildings at the refuge despite pleas from the county sheriff, from many local residents and from Oregon's governor, among others.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — The 73rd annual Golden Globes awards ceremony takes place later today without a runaway favorite for this year's top Academy Award. Among the nominees with the most to gain from a best-picture win are "Mad Max: Fury Road," ''The Revenant," ''Spotlight," ''The Big Short" and "The Martian." Conspicuously absent from this list: "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
