But another group of armed men arrived there in a convoy of pickup trucks today. They say they came to help with security. One of the original occupiers tells the Oregonian that his group appreciates the Pacific Patriot Network's help, but "want the long guns put away."
BERLIN (AP) — Anti-Islam demonstrators and leftwing counter protesters are making their voices heard in Cologne, Germany. The outcry is in response to a string of New Year's Eve sexual assaults and robberies blamed largely on foreigners. Police say some 1,700 protesters from the anti-Islam PEGIDA movement were kept apart from 1,300 counter demonstrators during Saturday's protests.

(AP) — Lawyers for a University of Virginia dean say the woman whose allegations of a campus rape were published in a since-debunked Rolling Stone article should have to reveal text messages and other communications. The Richmond Times Dispatch reports that her lawyers say she shouldn't have to hand over that information because she's not a party to the lawsuit..
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The Powerball jackpot has increased to $900 million just hours before tonight's drawing at 10:59 EST. Lottery officials say a winner would have the option of being paid $900 million through annual payments over 29 years or opting for a $558 million lump-sum cash payout.
