RIVERTON — A Riverton man was arrested Tuesday and accused of abusing a 16-month-old boy.

Trever Ford, 41, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated child abuse, child abuse and two counts of voyeurism.

On Feb. 4, a 16-month-old boy was taken to Primary Children's Hospital and was determined to have "multiple fractures in various stages of healing," including broken ribs and fractured bones in his arm, according to a police booking affidavit.

Doctors told police "there is no way the injuries were sustained accidentally and they are signs of intentionally caused injuries," the affidavit states.

As detectives investigated the incident and interviewed multiple people, they learned that Ford was the toddler's primary caregiver.

"Through the investigation, multiple sources said Trever has anger problems," according to the affidavit.

One of Ford's children told police that Ford hit the toddler in the mouth and investigators learned that, in December, a dentist treated the toddler for a lost front tooth and noted the boy "appeared to have severe trauma to his lower anterior teeth with an alveolar fracture on his jaw," the affidavit alleges.

Another son described being hit in the face by Ford, according to police. When searching Ford's phone, police found pictures of an adult female family member that appeared to be taken without her knowledge. Ford admitted to taking the photos and "showing other people online by a live video feed," according to the affidavit.

Riverton police note in the affidavit that Ford's aggression toward the woman "has been escalating," that he "scored as potentially lethal on the lethality assessment" and that the woman "fears Trever will try to kill her if he is released."
