SANTA CLARA, Washington County — Police have identified a woman who died after being struck by a vehicle Friday night in southern Utah.

Anand Kamlesh, 82, was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Pioneer Parkway and Jacob Drive in Santa Clara about 6:50 p.m.

Upon arrival, "first responders discovered that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle," according to a statement from Santa Clara-Ivins police.

In that area, Pioneer Parkway has two travel lanes, a middle turn lane and bike lanes on each side. There are no stop signs at the intersection of Jacob Drive, and a crosswalk connects the smaller residential drive which runs north to south.

Kamlesh was transported to St. George Hospital, around 9 miles away, where she died of her injuries.

Police say the driver of the vehicle cooperated with investigators. Friday night, they were working with the Washington County Metro Accident Reconstruction Team to determine what happened.

No other information was released, including whether the pedestrian was struck in a crosswalk, sidewalk or elsewhere, the type of car she was struck by and its direction of travel, and what factors led to the collision.
