ENOCH, Iron County — Enoch, Iron County, resident Ellen Gray was honored with a festive birthday party on Feb. 1, the eve of her 100th birthday.

Dozens of family members were on hand to join in the celebration, including all six of her living children, in addition to children-in-law and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

As she made her way around the room with the assistance of a walker, Gray made it a point to personally greet the attendees and handed out pocket planner calendars. One of the first children to give her a hug was her youngest grandson, 7-year-old Caleb Heaton, who had traveled all the way from Arizona.

Gray, who was born on Feb. 2, 1925, in what is now the ghost town of Silver City, Juab County, reminisced about how things were simpler in her childhood years.
