ST. GEORGE — St. George is having a birthday party on Saturday.
Jan. 25 is Heritage Day, commemorating 163 years since St. George was chartered as a city.
But no birthday party is complete without a celebration. From noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, the city confirmed there will be free root beer floats, cookies and other treats available at the Social Hall, 212 N. Main.
The party doesn't end there — several other free services will be available throughout the day in St. George, including:
- Free admission at the Sand Hollow Aquatic Center, 1144 N. 2400 West.
- Free admission at the St. George Recreation Center, 285 S. 400 East.
- Free admission at the St. George Art Museum, 47 E. 200 North.
- Free rides all day on SunTran buses.
- Free rides from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Thunder Junction Train at 1851 S. Dixie Drive; and the St. George Carousel at 100 W. Tabernacle.
"This is a day to celebrate how far our city has come while enjoying everything that makes St. George such a special place to live," St. George Mayor Michele Randall said. "From our recreational centers to our great parks and outdoor spaces, there's something for everyone to explore and enjoy. I look forward to seeing the community come together to celebrate our shared heritage."
"The thing we love most about the city of St. George is how great the people are," city spokesman David Cordero told KSL.com, "So we just want them to celebrate with us and have a good time."
