CEDAR CITY — An Iron County Sheriff's Office lieutenant has resigned amid allegations of hazing and a hostile work environment, following an internal investigation that began after reports of misconduct.
Jeff Humphries, who joined the sheriff's office as a deputy in 2007 and rose to lieutenant in 2021, was placed on administrative leave more than six weeks ago, officials from the Iron County Sheriff's Office said.
As a lieutenant, Humphries held the position of second-in-command.
The investigation reportedly began after a breach of confidentiality during a private meeting with law enforcement officials and later uncovered multiple allegations that spanned several years.
