SALT LAKE CITY — It's time for another weekend of college football, so let's look at the "Championship Weekend" slate of picks.

The weekend starts Friday night with the Mountain West championship in Boise, Idaho, where Ashton Jeanty and the Broncos will look to keep their spot in the College Football Playoff and defeat a talented UNLV team ready to play spoiler. The Rebels have the talent to get the win, but a home site championship game favors the Broncos.

On Saturday morning, the Big 12's Iowa State and Arizona State will battle it out in AT&T Stadium in Texas for a chance at the automatic bid to the playoff. Though the Cyclones were considered a title contender at the beginning of the season, the Sun Devils have been the biggest surprise. Could the former Pac-12 team go from worst to first?

And then Texas looks to win the SEC in its first season in the league against the old guard, Georgia. The Bulldogs have been inconsistent this season, but the first meeting between these two teams showed that Georgia is still more than talented enough to put Texas in its place.

The ACC then pits Clemson against newcomer SMU in a game that will have College Football Playoff ramifications — if not for other teams alone. The Mustangs have been one of the best teams in the country this season and will look to dethrone a Clemson team that is more than familiar with the ACC championship game.

And lastly, undefeated Oregon looks to keep the perfect record alive in a tough battle against Penn State in the Big Ten championship game. The Ducks have been the most consistent team this season, but can that continue ahead of a College Football Playoff run?
