Few businesses redefine the standards for performance vehicles quite like Shelby American and Black Widow Trucks. They're icons who have developed engineering marvels, driven innovation across the industry and won staple races like 24 Hours of Le Mans. Now, they're expanding their iconic presence in Utah with a prestigious partner — the Young Automotive Group.
"We're incredibly proud to showcase these legendary vehicles at our dealerships," said Jake Talbot, Young Ford Ogden's general manager. "These aren't just fancy trucks. They offer an experience unlike anything else. We're excited to have them on our showroom floor."
Shelby American and Black Widow Trucks have signed agreements with the company's three Ford operations. Located in Ogden, Morgan and Brigham City, the dealerships will become the preeminent locations to offer these limited, highly coveted, powerhouse vehicles in northern Utah, and they're currently stocking an incredible selection of units on their lots.
Looking for a premier truck or muscle car? Here's what you need to know about vehicles from each business:
Black Widow Trucks
For over 40 years, Black Widow Trucks based in Trussville, Alabama has been pushing modern-day vehicles to new summits. The company offers packages for Ford's F-150, F-150 Limited and F-250 Super Duty models — with each featuring incredible suspension systems, aggressively-styled components and intricately-designed interior elements.
Black Widow's Ford trucks all receive a lift, signature wheels, puddle lights and distinctive badging replacements before they grace showroom floors. The original shocks are also swapped out in favor of replacements from Fox Racing, making the machines capable of conquering extreme terrain.
Inside the cab, the company turns a standard F-series model into a luxury vehicle. Drivers are greeted by unique, custom-stitched seating, vibrant red interior lighting and a remarkable display of craftsmanship when they step through the door.
"Ford trucks have a distinct identity, and Black Widow amplifies what we love about them," said Talbot. "When customers first see these vehicles, they're blown away by the attention to detail and incredible upgrades."
Shelby American
It's possible that no name in the American automobile industry is as revered as Shelby American. Developed by the racing legend and intuitive entrepreneur Carroll Shelby, the manufacturer has produced several performance vehicles that command respect, including the Cobra, the GT40 and the GT Mustang — all capable of delivering a unique thrill in the driving experience.
"This is a company that's fueled by and carries on the spirit of their tremendous founder," said Talbot. "They set industry standards, and are characterized by bold features and unmatched power. They're bedroom poster cars."
Each Shelby is designed to highlight the brand's unique identity. Though there are some exceptions, almost all models feature the signature Shelby racing stripe — an indicating characteristic of a muscle car with tremendous power. It's also almost hard to find a vehicle that isn't capable of producing over 700 horsepower either, especially across their Mustang line.
One of their most popular models ever, this year's Shelby Mustang Super Snake is designed to turn heads and achieve blistering speeds. Under the hood sits Ford's new Gen 4 Coyote 5.0 engine and a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger, providing the muscle car with enough power to produce over 830 horsepower and go from 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds. That said, the Super Snake name doesn't only belong to the Mustang.
Though each of their models are groundbreaking, few vehicles in Shelby's history can compare to the modern F-150 Super Snake. Capable of towing up to 13,500 lbs., it works like a truck and parties like a sports car — coming equipped with a supercharged engine that produces up to 775 horsepower as well as front and rear shocks from Fox Racing.
"Muscle cars and trick trucks have played such an integral role in the evolution of the automotive world, and Shelby's made sure that they don't disappear from the road," said Talbot. "Drivers aren't done with these cars. They're works of art built for enthusiasts who crave performance and style. Not every person who comes to our dealership will buy a Shelby, but I guarantee you that most will do a double-take when they walk past one of these in our showroom."
In addition to vehicles from Black Widow and Shelby, the Young Automotive Group's Ford locations will also carry F-series trucks from the manufacturer's collaboration with Harley-Davidson as well as Mustang upgrade packages from RTR — a company that customizes machines for better track performance.
The signing of this deal coincides with the Young Automotive Group's 100 year anniversary. Founded in 1924 by a mechanic named Seldon "Jack" Olsen, the company has over 30 franchises across Utah, Idaho and Montana.
"What I love about this deal is how it shows that even though we've been operating for a century, our best days as a company are still ahead of us," said Talbot. "Even after 100 years, we're just getting started. The future is bright, and we're excited to drive it forward."
