SALT LAKE CITY — Units from Salt Lake City Fire Department responded to a large fire near 450 W. 500 North in downtown Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake City Fire Division Chief Bob Silverthorne confirmed that firefighters were dispatched to a two-alarm fire, with 12 engines assigned, totaling 48 firefighters.

Silverthorne also said that units on the scene working to get inside the building still to access the "heart of the fire." The hazardous materials team was also called out because the business in the building uses chemicals to process soap which could be of concern.

No evacuations are underway, and no structures are threatened beyond the burning building.

Firefighters reported no civilian injuries, but one firefighter was checked for a potential injury.

Smoke could be seen streaming out from the building as first responders fought to extinguish the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
