SALT LAKE CITY — One of country music's latest and greatest may soon be rolling back into the Beehive State — not just for a one-off performance — but to stay.

Jelly Roll, the Country Music Association's 2023 New Artist of the Year, kicked off his "Beautifully Broken" tour Tuesday night at the Delta Center.

While there, he gushed about his experience at the sold-out show.

"I truly could not have asked for a better way to open this tour," Jelly Roll said. "I could not have asked for a better crowd tonight, Salt Lake City. Thank you for making the first show a sold-out show."

But his praise didn't stop with the crowd.

"This place is one of the most beautiful places. I've been here for four days at the Maverik Center, rehearsing to get ready for this tour," he said. "I've been all over this place, dude. I've been to Park City. I've been to Heber. I've been to West Valley. I've been in Salt Lake City."

He then proceeded to drop a bomb on the already raucous crowd, announcing, "I've decided I'm going to buy a house in Park City."

This, of course, sent the crowd into an uproar.

Jelly Roll would be joining fellow musician (and collaborator) Post Malone in calling Utah — at least partially — home.

While they worked together on Malone's song "Losers," it's unclear how much, if any, influence Malone had on Jelly Roll's affection for Utah.

Like Jelly Roll, Malone often speaks highly of Utah. He has previously called the state an "oasis" away from the hustle of Hollywood, helping to alleviate some of the stress that can stem from celebrity life.

"Being in Utah and being away from the grind and from everybody else, and it's just me with my video games and cold one, that feels good to me," Malone told Variety in 2019.
