CHESTER, Sanpete County — Two people were killed in a collision involving three vehicles Monday morning, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred on state Route 132 near Chester, in Sanpete County, at about 11:52 a.m., according to UHP Sgt. Chris Bishop. As a 2004 Dodge Intrepid slowed to turn left into a driveway, it was struck from behind by a 2019 Ford F-250, according to a UHP press release.
The Intrepid was then pushed into oncoming traffic and collided with a 2017 Toyota Corolla.
Both occupants of the Intrepid were killed in the crash, troopers said. On Tuesday, officials identified the deceased as Braden Christiansen, 27, and Caitlin Edmunds, 26, of Chester, Sanpete County.
A fundraiser* was created on behalf of Christiansen and Edmunds' young son who was not in the car during the crash.
Three other individuals in the Corolla and F-250 were taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. The highway was closed southbound at Chester and northbound at Pigeon Hollow Road for a time, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.
