TATOOINE — Salt Lake Comic Con is in town, and it's where passionate nerds gather and rejoice in the shared passion for their brand of all things nerdy.
If you're not into Comic Con — or if you're griping disparagingly about "all those darned nerds" — think of Comic Con as something akin to the Super Bowl. Those who love it get so excited that there's often several high-pitched frenzies involved, not to mention many a heated discussion as well as plenty of face paint for everyone to show just what team they're on.
See, people are all the same; we all get weird about something we love.
To honor Comic Con, local pianist Jason Lyle Black created a "Star Wars"-themed, Comic Con love story parody of "Shut Up and Dance with Me" by Walk the Moon. It's a song that he dedicates to three brands of nerds.
Black's lyrics in the video are spot-on, clever and hilarious, so listen carefully as he takes you on a dramatic journey, which includes Tatooine, Sith lords and saber duels. Personally, I had several laugh-out-loud moments, but "Star Wars" is my jam.
You may recognize Black from his "Frozen" mashup video "Dueling Piano Siblings," which went viral earlier this year. To see more of Black, including his sweet backward piano skills, check out his YouTube channel.
