OGDEN — A former contestant on "American Ninja Warrior" was recently featured in a new spinoff series, "Team Ninja Warrior."

Competing on "Team Ninja Warrior" are 24 all-star teams of three — two men and one woman — as they race against each other side-by-side on the same obstacle, two competitors at a time, according to "Team Ninja Warrior."

Karson Voiles has competed three times on "American Ninja Warrior," and local "American Ninja Warrior" champion Isaac Caldiero chose Voiles to be on his team for "Team Ninja Warrior."

When Caldiero dropped out of the competition, Voiles took his spot as team captain.

Voiles' team — Karsonic Boom — did not win the competition, but Voiles said he was pretty happy with the experience overall.

"We did better than a lot of teams, but didn't do the best either," Voiles said.

The teams faced a lot of obstacles such as the warped wall, dancing stones, sonic swing, log grip, swing jump and flying shelf grab.

Though Karsonic Boom lost the overall competition, Voiles beat opponent Flip Rodriguez. When Voiles was training for "American Ninja Warrior," he constructed a course in his backyard.

Others wanted to train there as well, but it wasn't very safe for the inexperienced. Eventually, Voiles started his own gym in Ogden, Ninja Warehouse.

Voiles said the ninja work is a ton of fun for him.

"I've always wanted to be a ninja my whole life, so now this gives me an excuse to actually go and try and do it, right?" Voiles said.

The ninja hopes to participate in "American Ninja Warrior" in the future and recently sent out his audition tape for another season.

Karsonic Boom appeared on Esquire Network Tuesday night. The episode is available online.
