SALT LAKE CITY — Police are investigating the suspicious death of a woman found outside a home on Salt Lake's west side.

The woman's body was discovered about 9:30 a.m. Thursday outside a vacant home near 180 North and 800 West in the Fairpark neighborhood, Salt Lake Police detective Veronica Montoya said. The body was discovered by an individual who either owned the property or was looking to rent it, the detective said.

The death is considered suspicious, Montoya said. No details were released about whether police found indicators as to what may have killed the woman or evidence that any crimes may have occurred.

Police have not identified the woman or released any information about her age or description, or whether the woman was dressed for the weather.

The medical examiner's has taken custody of the woman's body, Montoya said. It was unclear when further information would be released.
