OGDEN — Weber State picked up its sixth straight victory Saturday night, dispatching the Northern Colorado Bears 85-68 at the Dee Events Center.

With the ball game being called tight (a combined 68 free throws between the two teams), Weber head coach Randy Rahe was forced to go deep into the bench, and the bench answered the call.

The Wildcat bench outscored the Northern Colorado bench 37-14 behind big performances from junior forward Kyndahl Hill and freshman guard Cody John.

"We just all played as a team and trusted one another," said Hill. "Everybody played their role and did what they had to do to get the win."

Hill impacted the game on both sides of the floor and swung the momentum in Weber's favor at critical moments. John went 3-of-4 from the field for nine points and was tenacious on defense throughout the game.

"Our bench was the biggest difference in the game," said Rahe. "It was a team win, but the bench was as important as anybody."

On the night, the Wildcats, who went 5 for 5 in the latest homestand, shot 31 percent from 3-point range, and the bigs stepped up and took control of the game.

Joel Bolomboy racked up his 15th double-double in 16 games with 17 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and one block. Bolomboy currently leads the nation in double-doubles, but says the ranking is not his focus.

"I just play the game and let everything come to me," he said.

The game was tight for most of the first half with each team trading runs, and Weber never seemed to be able to pull away. The Wildcats shot 1 for 9 from the field to finish the half and took a six-point lead into the locker room.

The Wildcats came out refocused in the second half, hitting their first five shots. They also ratcheted up the defense, holding the Bears to 40 percent shooting from the field and 16 percent from the 3-point line. The Wildcats pushed the lead to 11 at the 7:40 mark of the period and never looked back.

Weber State now heads out on the road for a three-game road swing, beginning with a Jan. 14 contest against Portland State. The Wildcats are 0-3 in true road games.

"It's a different deal out there," said Rahe. "What wins on the road is incredible toughness, maturity and a team togetherness. So I'm excited to see what we have and I'm excited to see what we can do out there."

The Wildcats are now 11-5 overall and 3-0 in Big Sky Conference play.
