OGDEN – Weber State took care of business Thursday night, defeating the Antelope Valley Pioneers by a score of 90-47.

Antelope Valley is a school out of Lancaster, California, and this is the first season of college basketball for the school. Weber State was never in any real danger of losing this game.

Weber State standout Joel Bolomboy, who was playing in his 100th career game, said the team can still learn from these types of games.

"I think we can learn a lot about our defense and the way we work together," said Bolomboy. "We can put in different lineups and different rotations to see what we can do as a team to get better."

Bolomboy continued his solid play this season, posting 15 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks. This was Bolomboy's third consecutive double-double of the season.

Weber struggled to get in a rhythm during, falling behind in the first three minutes. The Wildcats quickly regained their composure and took control, and did not give any ground to the Pioneers for the rest of the game.

Junior guard Richaud Gittens was huge coming off the bench, dropping in 14 points, going 3-5 from long distance. Gittens credited the hot shooting to the work put in before the game.

"Our coaches always get on us about shooting the ball," said Gittens. "We have been in the gym getting up a lot of shots, and it helped out a lot tonight"

Starting guard Jeremy Senglin led the way for Weber with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting and 3-of-4 from the 3-point line.

Weber State shot a blistering 56 percent from 3-point range on the game, going 13-of-23. The Wildcats also dominated the paint, outscoring their opponents 38-14 inside, and outrebounding Antelope Valley 42-25.

Weber State heads to Estero, Florida, to participate in the Gulf Coast Showcase basketball tournament. Gittens spoke about the opportunity this tournament provides for Weber State.

"We want to establish that we are one the better mid-major teams in the country," said Gittens. "We have got to go down there with that mindset, and play with that toughness and togetherness we always play with."

With their first victory in the books, Weber State is now 1-2 on the season. The Wildcats play Central Michigan in the opening round of the tournament on Nov. 23.
