PROVO — BYU's Kyle Collinsworth was one of 20 finalists named to the Bob Cousy Award watch list Tuesday morning, joining a list of 19 other of the nation's top college point guards.

The award, which is traditionally awarded to the top collegiate point guard in the nation, will be announced April 8 during the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show in Los Angeles. Indiana's Yogi Ferrell, North Carolina's Marcus Paige, Wichita State's Fred Van Vleet and Providence's Kris Dunn are among the headliners in the list of 20 finalists.

"The athletes on this list represent the most dedicated and skillful point guards in college basketball," said John L. Doleva, president and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame, in a statement. "They exhibit many of the characteristics that made Mr. Cousy such a successful player and we are pleased to be recognizing them for their accomplishments. We thank College of Holy Cross for their continued support of this esteemed award."

Utah's Delon Wright won the award last season and current Utah Jazz point guard Trey Burke won the award in 2013 during his final season at Michigan. Collinsworth is the only player from the West Coast Conference named to the final 20.

The senior from Provo High averaged 13.8 points, 8.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game in leading BYU to a 25-10 record and an NCAA Tournament bid in 2014, a year in which he also set an NCAA record for most triple-doubles in a season with six. Collinsworth was the only player ranked in the top 100 in the nation in rebounds, assists and steals, and he is the leading rebounder among the 20 Cousy Award finalists.
