OREM — A Utah family now believes lucky lightning does strike twice after a Lehi wife and mother sang with Broadway star Idina Menzel during a recent concert.

Josh and Rosie Skinner's first "lightning strike" happened earlier this year when "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson stopped her concert to coo over baby Boston Skinner. Clarkson pulled the boy on stage, who took to the experience like a champ, winning the hearts of many in Utah and beyond.

Josh Skinner said that experience was thrilling for them, and they never dreamed that a similar experience would happen again for their concert-loving family, especially within two months. But happen it did on Oct. 1, during a concert at Utah Valley University with Broadway and film star Idina Menzel.

During her concerts, Menzel will often pull someone from the audience to perform songs with her, as do many other stars like Kristen Chenoweth, Jason Mraz and more. This time, Menzel plucked Rosie Skinner out of the crowd, and her husband captured the experience on video.

Rosie, Menzel and another concert-goer sang "Take Me or Leave Me" from RENT, a musical that Menzel starred in on stage and in film.

"Rosie has been in musical theater much of her life, including being part of the ensemble for Utah's first community production of RENT at Murray Theater in 2011," Josh said. "She auditioned with the very song she got to sing with Idina."

It may go without saying, but Josh said Menzel is Rosie's idol, and Rosie was "absolutely floored she got to sing with Idina."
