3 apostles called to LDS Church leadership

On Saturday afternoon, three new apostles were announced for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

President Henry B. Eyring announced Ronald A. Rasband, Gary E. Stevenson and Dale G. Renlund would join the Quorum of the Twelve, the second-highest leadership organization in the religion. General Authority callings are lifelong. Russell M. Nelson was also sustained as president of the quorum, a calling which was extended to him in July following the death of President Boyd K. Packer.

Park City teen dies from injuries sustained while skiing in Australia

A 16-year-old freeskiing champion from Park City recently died from injuries sustained during an accident in Australia.

Team Park City United athlete Sam Jackenthal was attending a ski camp at Perisher Resort when the accident occurred at the beginning of September. He was treated at a hospital in Australia for several weeks but died from his injuries Thursday, according to TPCU.

Brown, offense back to full force in BYU's win over UConn

BYU running back Algie Brown walked into the postgame interview area after the Cougars' 30-13 home win over UConn Friday night with a big smile on his face before sitting down at a table behind a couple of microphones.

When he was asked how he felt, he laughed then sighed as if weighed down by exhaustion.

"It's good to be back," said Brown, who ran for a team-high 95 yards on 18 carries in his first game in nearly a month. "Sitting three weeks out, my body is feeling it, but I'm just grateful to be back."

Utah football breaks Top 5 in AP Poll on bye week

It was wild weekend for the Top 10 teams in the country, with nearly every team struggling to escape with a win. As a result, the Top 10 saw a major shakeup in the fifth week of play.

While sitting on the sidelines watching the madness unfold, Utah still got some help from some voters who moved Utah up to No. 5 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and up to No. 7 in the Amway USA Today Coaches Poll. Utah was previously ranked No. 10 in the AP Poll and No. 12 in the Coaches Poll.

Myers, defense shine as Aggies come up with big MWC win

Following its first back-to-back losses since 2013, Utah State turned to sophomore quarterback Kent Myers and a seemingly revitalized defense to earn an important win in its first conference game of the year.

After two straight Pac-12 opponents dealt the Aggies losses, an impressive homecoming night 33-18 win over Colorado State put Utah State (2-2, 1-0) in a tie atop the Mountain West Conference Mountain Division Saturday night.

Real Salt Lake eliminates Colorado Rapids from playoff race

Joao Plata and Luke Mulholland scored 10 minutes apart in the first half and Real Salt Lake beat Colorado 2-1 on Sunday night to eliminate the Rapids from the playoff race.

Bryant returns as Jazz beat Lakers 90-71 in preseason

Kobe Bryant scored five points in his first action since undergoing surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in the Los Angeles Lakers' 90-71 loss to the Utah Jazz on Sunday.
