TOYLAND — The world is a vast place that is constantly revealing new information, which can be both awe-inspiring and frightening to even the most well-educated and world-wise adults.

That being said, just imagine what it's like for toddlers who are often blown away by simple things we adults have taken for granted for years. After all, when's the last time you became delighting seeing a clutch of horses as you drive through a rural community? Or became entranced by a piece of glitter? Or tried to sort out a new sensation like feeling the grass between your toes?

Orem toddler, 21-month-old Lyla, had an unsettling experience with the latter on a recent trip to Blickenstaff's at Riverwoods in Provo. Lyla and her mother, Brenna Johnson, were playing with toys when Lyla heard a new sound that didn't quite sit well with her. What was this unsettling sound? A baaing sheep.

"Lyla is typically very tolerant of bugs and animals — she loves our chickens," Lyla's father Taylor Johnson explained. "She was oh-ing everything in the toy store, but this mystery sound left her with mixed feelings."

All I can say is I don't blame Lyla's reaction at all. Indeed, sometimes when I hear an unfamiliar noise my interest is piqued, but I also want to grab a baseball bat to swing first and ask questions later.

Watch the video above to see Lyla's experience.
