SALT LAKE CITY — The weekend was either good or bad depending on what fanbase you belong to.

BYU was held scoreless against Michigan on the road while Utah went on the road and routed Oregon in a strong Pac-12 opening weekend. Because BYU had little production from all facets of its game, no players were nominated this week from BYU.

The KSL Sports staff has chosen to honor three players this week from Utah with the Player of the Week award. Add your vote to the three polls below. Did the KSL Sports staff make the right call? Tell us in the comment section.

Offensive Player of the Week

Travis Wilson, QB, Utah

Travis Wilson had one of the best performances as a Utah quarterback, accounting for 327 of Utah's 530 total yards. Wilson threw for four touchdowns and ran for another. He was in complete command of the offense and made Oregon's defense look weak as he targeted nine receivers. He also rushed for 100 yards, which was 2 yards more than Devontae Booker.

Honorable Mentions:

Devontae Booker, RB, Utah: Booker again had an effective game, rushing for 98 yards on 22 carries and averaged 4.5 yards per carry. But Booker's most impressive accomplishment was a 26-yard touchdown pass to freshman receiver Britain Covey.

Britain Covey, WR, Utah: Covey continues to establish himself as a viable threat on Utah's offense. Covey caught two touchdowns in Utah's win — his first two career reception touchdowns — and had 55 receiving yards on three catches.

Defensive Player of the Week

Marcus Williams, DB, Utah

Marcus Williams pulled down a key interception Saturday for a 54-yard gain, halting any early momentum Oregon was trying to establish. Williams nearly came down with a second interception, but the ball bounced out of his hand. He added two total tackles in Utah's win.

Honorable Mentions:

Dominique Hatfield, DB, Utah: Hatfield came down with a huge interception in the end zone, keeping Oregon once again from scoring and gaining some momentum against Utah. Hatfield also ended the game with two total tackles.

Jason Fanaika, DE, Utah: Fanaika was big for the defensive front seven, forcing a fumble that Gionni Paul recovered, breaking up a pass and coming down with 1.5 sacks.

Specialist Player of the Week

Boobie Hobbs, PR, Utah

It was one of the most energetic plays of the season as Utah faked out nearly the entire Oregon team. Hobbs pulled down the punt and ran for a 69-yard touchdown — the first return on Oregon in 100 games.

Honorable Mentions:

Britain Covey, PR, Utah: Although Covey only returned two punts for a total of 21 yards, it was his theatrics on the trick punt return that made everything possible.

Tom Hackett, P, Utah: Hackett showed his speed against Oregon after a one-handed grab on the snap of a fake punt, breaking through Oregon's special teams for a 33-yard gain. Hackett nearly broke away for a touchdown.
