PARK CITY — Two men were arrested Thursday after $25,000 worth of marijuana was discovered in their vehicle, police said.
Investigators participating in a joint drug interdiction stopped the vehicle while it was heading east on I-80, about one mile east of the I-84 interchange, at 11:34 a.m., according to the Park City Police Department.
"During the course of the traffic stop and subsequent investigation, a police service dog from the Summit County Sheriff's Office gave a positive indication on the vehicle," a statement from the Park City Police Department reads.
As a result, officers located about 17 pounds of suspected marijuana and 136 grams of suspected concentrated extract of marijuana, plus a marijuana pipe, in the trunk, according to police.
The driver of the vehicle, 31-year-old Cory Blanchard, was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance in addition to three traffic violations, police said. Andrew Galliher, 27, was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance. He was a passenger in the car.
Blanchard is listed as being from Wichita, Kansas, while Galliher is a resident of Westland, Oregon. Police said they were driving a rental car with New Jersey license plates.
