WILLARD, Box Elder County — A driver was hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday after a large service truck rolled on I-15 near Willard.

The driver was traveling north when the Commercial Tire, INC. truck, which was carrying two large tires and other equipment, drifted into the median three miles south of the Willard/Perry Interchange before overcorrecting and rolling into the I-15 median, according to a Utah Highway Patrol spokesman.

The driver, a 28-year-old male from North Ogden, was thrown from the truck as it rolled just before 10 a.m. and sustained "potentially life-threatening injuries," according to UHP. The driver was taken by medical helicopter to the University of Utah Hospital in critical condition.

Northbound lanes on I-15 were periodically closed to allow the helicopter to land and to allow troopers to evaluate the scene. Investigators are working to determine what caused the truck to roll.

The Utah Department of Transportation reported high delays in the area lasting into the afternoon Tuesday.
