SALT LAKE CITY — Brian Zettler, after being an assistant trainer for the Utah Jazz for 12 years, is finally getting a move up.
On Wednesday, Zettler was named as head athletic trainer for the team after Gary Briggs retired at the end of the 2014-15 season. Zettler is the fourth head trainer in franchise history. Briggs spent 15 seasons as the Jazz's head trainer.
Zettler's move also leaves room for other members of the Jazz's staff to get promotions as well.
Nick Asay was promoted to fill Zettler's void in the assistant role. He's been assisting the staff for the last two seasons, after filling a spot as head athletic trainer at Herriman High School from 2011-14. He also worked as the athletic trainer for the Utah Flash from 2007-09.
Adam Klauke will fill Zettler's other former role of equipment manager. Klauke worked as assistant equipment manager before this promotion.
