SLIP-N-SLIDE — I was never a water park fan, so I don’t know if water slides are in or out with the kids these days.

What I do know from commercials is the trend in water parks is to make slides higher, steeper, faster and generally scarier. I’m not sure how it’s appealing to experience continually more death-defying slides while only wearing the smallest amount of clothing socially acceptable in public, but here we are.

That being said, I’m 100 percent behind The Black Hole water slide at a leisure pool in Bremen, Germany. It’s not bigger, faster, scarier in its ingenuity, but rather it’s an exercise in creativity and immersive experience, not unlike a well-executed Disneyland attraction.

The inside of the slide would be pitch black, which might be an interesting experience in and of itself, but the walls are lined with jewel-toned LED lights in different configurations and flashing patterns. Basically, it’s a sort of laser light show water slide, and all they need to do is pump in a little Pink Floyd to make the experience complete.

The only thing death-defying about this ride is for those who may have seizures when exposed to certain speeds of flashing lights. So ride and watch with care.
