SALT LAKE CITY — Those who commute on the FrontRunner between the Salt Lake Central Station and the Ogden Station may experience slight delays during the next few weeks.
Because of maintenance work on select rail crossings and replacing railroad ties on the nearby Union Pacific railroad, FrontRunner trains will run at 40 mph while driving through the construction area, Utah Transit Authority reported in a press release.
The maintenance will occur June 16-23 and again on June 30-July 6 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. It will not impact morning commuters, UTA reported.
The trains will continue south to Provo without delays after they make up for the lost time at Salt Lake Central.
FrontRunner operators will sound train horns through construction areas as a safety procedure for the protection of workers in the rail corridor as required by federal regulation.
