To Whom It Many Concerns,

We'd like to share our story with you in hopes we can recognize an amazing lady who has helped our family more than words can ever explain, Nurse Becky from the Primary Children's Hospital Outpatient Clinic. What could have been the worst year of our lives has been made bearable by someone who has gone above and beyond her stand job duties. Recognizing Nurse Becky with the High 5 Award is the least we can do for an amazing lady who has coached us, held our hands, and encouraged us to keep going for the last year.

In 2012 a few months after birth our daughter Rylie was diagnosed with Neurofibormatosis (NF). Some time went by and in February 2014 our 2 year old was diagnosed with Bi-Lateral Optic Pathway Glimoas, tumors common with NF patients. A few short weeks later our daughter began monthly chemotherapy treatment. We were scared. We had no idea what the next year would bring about for our daughter. We had no idea how we would cope financially. Millions of thoughts ran through our heads. We were terrified.

Through all of the uncertainty Nurse Becky was there. Holding our hands, wiping our tears, Encouraging us to keep going. She taught us everything we needed to know about caring for a child during chemotherapy. She gave us helpful hints to make treatments and tests easier and always treated our daughter with the up-most respect and care. Every month when we walked into the outpatient clinic, there was Becky. Ready and waiting with a smile. She knew every toy our daughter liked to play with, she knew just what cookies she liked to eat. She was always there... willing to help us do anything possible to keep our little one as comfortable as possible.

Nurse Becky and the oncology team take care of so many children each and every day. Day after day they show up- ready to help all of us get through the day. They have the unimaginable job of injection these children with drugs that are going to make them sick but they handle it with such care and passion. The are calm when chaos erupts and compassionate when the kids are sick. They are the glue that holds us all together when we feel like everything is falling apart! While researchers work to find cures for NF, cancer, and other debilitating disorders these amazing individuals work hard to keep our kids smiling. They are just as invested in these sweet kiddos health and well being as we are. Monday, April 6th our daughter completed her last round of chemotherapy and Nurse Becky was there, right by our sides. Crying and celebrating with us. As I sit here today looking back on pictures and videos you can clearly see how much these kids mean to them. Our kids successes are their successes, rewards and joy they often don't get to celebrate. Nothing would make us happier than having the opportunity to recognize Becky and her colleges for all the wonderful work they do! Thank you for considering our friend Nurse Becky!

Thank You!

The Evans Family Brett, Brandie, and Rylie
