KEARNS — Cody Kitchen went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and two RBI as Bingham pounded out seven runs in the fourth inning and cruised past Davis, 11-1, in five innings of a one-loss bracket game at the Class 5A state baseball tournament Monday afternoon.

Tyler Zupon smashed a grand slam for the Miners, who blanked the Darts beginning in the second inning for the win.

Harley Yazzie picked up the win in five inning for Bingham, allowing only one run on five hits.

Jaxon Knight had an RBI single in the first inning to plate Davis’ lone run.

Bingham faces American Fork in a one-loss bracket game Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Kearns High School.

AMERICAN FORK 4, LEHI 3 — At Kearns, Dallin Searle’s game-winning single in the bottom of the seventh inning helped the Cavemen rally from a 3-1 first-inning deficit to clinch the one-loss bracket win.

J Norton earned the win for American Fork, allowing three runs on seven hits but blanking the Pioneers after the first. Mick Madsen notched a double for the Cavemen.

The other two 5A games, West Jordan-Taylorsville and Northridge-Jordan, were postponed due to weather.

Class 4A

At Orem, Orem High pitcher Paxton Schultz struck out 11 and gave up just two hits as the Tigers edged Box Elder, 3-2, in a one-loss bracket game at Utah Valley University on Monday.

Hayden Young and Schultz each plated an RBI single in the second inning to tie the game after the Bees took a 2-0 lead early. Jake Herman then added the gamewinner in the top of the sixth.

Orem advances to face Maple Mountain in a one-loss bracket game on Tuesday.

MAPLE MOUNTAIN 4, SKY VIEW 0 — At Orem, Winning pitcher Tyson Ellis notched a complete-game shutout and only allowed four hits as the Golden Eagles knocked off Sky View in a 4A one-loss bracket game.

Canon Miner and Tyson Ellis each supplied a double for Maple Mountain, which scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to secure the victory.

WOODS CROSS 11, JUDGE MEMORIAL 3 — At Orem, Brandon Wagstaff had a home run and a double as the Wildcats hustled by Bulldogs at Utah Valley University.

Jake Foster also doubled for Woods Cross, which pulled away with a six-run sixth inning. The Wildcats advanced to play the winner of Bountiful and Skyline in a one-loss bracket game Tuesday.

BOUNTIFUL 6, SKYLINE 3 — At Orem, after a 90-minute rain delay, winning pitcher Parker DePasquale helped the Braves outlast the Eagles in 4A one-loss bracket action.

Bountiful will play Woods Cross at UVU on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
