PROVO — The 2015 Utah UHSAA State Track and Field Championships took place this weekend, and the only thing that disappointed was the weather. The two-day event was highlighted by not only the excess amount of moisture but also five new state records dominated by the 2A girls.

Freshman Jaslyn Gardner of Enterprise ran in 11.98 in the 2A 100 meter race, junior Anna Camp of Millard ran at 56.99 in the 2A 400 meter, and junior Elsja Mecham of Summit Academy ran 42.68 in the 2A 300 meter hurdles. Junior Isaac Tillet of South Summit broke the record for the boys 2A 400 meter with 48.60, and sophomore Aubrey Argyle of Davis broke the record for the girl’s 5A 3,200 meter with a time of 10:35.87.

Connor Mantz of Sky View, who recently signed with BYU, took first in the boys 3,200 meter (Mantz holds the state record), running at 9:03.47.
