LEHI – Friday marked the one-year anniversary for Thanksgiving Point’s Museum of Natural Curiosity. Since then, the museum has had more than 700,000 people walk through its doors.

“This place is unique because we have over 400 hands-on exhibits,” said Kimberly Campbell, the assistant manager at the museum. “It’s like an indoor playground for kids.”

The scientific traveling exhibit is set to change every year. Staring in June, visitors can expect a new exhibit in place of "Motion Matters."

“It’s called ‘Seeing,’” said Campbell. “It’s coming from the Exploratorium and it is all about visual exhibits.”

The Museum of Natural Curiosity’s intent is to educate children while they play, whether it's through science, history, culture or art.

“(Our goal) is transformative, family learning, and that’s what this museum is all about; bringing families to learn, to play and enjoy themselves,” said Campbell.

People travel in from all over the country to visit the museum.

“Compared to our children’s museums in Montana, it’s 100 times bigger so the kids can experience a lot more,” said Justin Payne, a first-time visitor to the museum.

“We love coming (here),” said Shaunelle Bennett, a mother and regular visitor to the museum. “There (are) so many fun, hands-on things to do. My kids have so much fun.”

The Museum of Natural Curiosity is located at Thanksgiving Point at 3003 North Thanksgiving Way in Lehi. For more information, visit thanksgivingpoint.org.
