SALT LAKE CITY — Three local a cappella groups will perform their spring concert at the All Saints Episcopal Church Monday.

In the concert, which is presented by Clayton Productions, the three groups, Harmony (adults), Harmony High (high school students) and Harmony Mid (junior high students), will perform a wide range of music from sacred to secular and pop to patriotic, according to D. Kim Clayton, owner and director of Clayton Productions.

Clayton, who writes or arranges all the music, said he loves a cappella music and seeks to teach the different organizations to sing it by using a lot of ear training and harmonic skills.

“It is wall-to-wall a cappella music,” he said. “It’s really kind of exciting, and it’s pretty impressive that these young people through adults are able to continue this entire program a cappella, a cappella, a cappella.”

The concert will take place just days after the "Pitch Perfect 2" premiere.

Some of the students in the a cappella groups enjoy the music from "Pitch Perfect," and some of the music performed in the concert will be in a similar genre as that type of movie, Clayton said.

There is no admission charged for this event. And while Clayton said he typically asks for donations to give to the church, such donations are not required.

Monday's concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1710 Foothill Drive. Clayton said a lot of people are interested in a cappella music, and the concerts are typically pretty full.

This is the a cappella groups’ second spring concert this month. Alex Boye joined the groups May 4 as he sang some a cappella music. A third “all a cappella night” will occur May 29 at the All Saints Episcopal Church at 7:30 p.m. with a cappella groups Fame, Encore, Celebrate, Hero, Clayton said.
