ECHO, Summit County — The junction between I-80 and I-84 was closed Saturday after a cattle trailer rolled.

The semitruck carrying an estimated 120 head of cattle was travelling eastbound on I-84 about 3:15 p.m. Saturday when it rolled on the I-80 westbound ramp, said Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Lawrence Hopper.

"The driver was going too fast for the curve … He ended up rolling the truck and trailer," Hopper said. "They are currently blocking the off ramp from I-84 to I-80 to go westbound."

Officials hope to have the ramp clear and re-opened by about 7 p.m., Hopper said. Drivers are being diverted at the Echo Canyon exit and then back onto I-80.

The driver of the truck was not injured. It was unclear how many cattle had been hurt or killed in the crash.
