THE VOLCANO — Last week, Chile’s Calbuco volcano erupted not once but twice in just 24 hours.

The volcano spewed ash and smoke over several square miles and destroyed farms, businesses and property.

A video has popped up online to show the frightening magnitude of the event.

The video is a time-lapse of the eruption, and it is mesmerizing. Not only can you see the smoke and ash cloud that reached nearly six miles in the air, but you can also see lightning striking around the plume that looks more like a scene from a Hollywood disaster movie than an actual volcano in Chile.

Thankfully no one was seriously injured, but the area has been evacuated.

While we can sit safely in front of our screens and marvel at these videos, it’s important to remember that this is a real disaster affecting real people.
