SALT LAKE CITY — Are we all decompressed after last week’s Star Wars madness? Let’s hope not, because there will be some more to come. The new trailer is still amazing and now the wait for December begins.

Fortunately, we are hitting the start of blockbuster movie season so there is a lot of entertainment to tide us over.

”Star Wars Battlefront”

Well, let’s be honest, everyone who has geeked out about last week’s trailer has had a wish to join in the battles that made the original Star War series so epic. From freezing on Hoth to flying an X-Wing or TIE fighter to wielding a lightsaber, we want in on the action. Enter Battlefront.

This will be the third full installment of the game, and the first since 2005, which means this is the first with next-gen full HD graphics. The team making the game is ready to create a more immersive game. Battlefront II let you do just about anything, but this edition will add speeders, jetpacks on Endor and flying some ship named Millennium Falcon — if you have heard of that. Although all flying is done inside the atmosphere, so the cool huge space battles won't happen, unfortunately.

The idea is to recreate huge multiplayer battles from the original trilogy and fight the greatest battles in the galaxy far, far away.

Unfortunately the wait for Battlefront is almost as long as the new movie. It is scheduled to come out Nov. 17, but of course that could change.

Rogue One plot revealed

Well, let’s keep the Star Wars fun coming with the new information about “Star Wars: Rogue One.” The next movie, which is part of the anthology series, is set between episodes III and IV.

Rogue One tells the story of how the rebels got the Death Star plans. Now think of the Star Wars universe at the time. There are no Jedi roaming. They all got Order 66'ed. Now it’s up to the normal people to make things happen.

Felicity Jones, of “Theory of Everything” fame, stars in what is best described as a heist movie. After that there isn’t much known. A shaky fan trailer that you can search the web for if you like, shows a single TIE fighter returning to the Death Star. By the way, the Death Star is really big.

Rogue One will come out Dec. 2016, so a new trailer won’t come out for a few more months, maybe not even this year.

”Galaxy Quest” series

So, the real movie about a fake TV show that becomes all too real is now becoming a real TV show, hopefully still about a fake TV show. We all still following?

The 1999 movie featuring Tim Allen about a “Star Trek”-esque series was really good. It could lead to a really good series just by keeping the format of a fake show in space or just showing ridiculous episodes of the series.

“Galaxy Quest” joins a large and ever-growing list of movies made into TV shows. “Uncle Buck,” “Rush Hour” and “Minority Report” will premiere this year along with a few others that have been ordered. “Galaxy Quest” won’t come out until next year at the earliest.

Fantastic Four

The “Fantastic Four” reboot has me all sorts of confused, excited and curious. I like all the actors, even Johnny Storm — I’m a huge Michael B. Jordan fan — and his sister Sue, I’m afraid of CGI Thing and curious to see how they are doing Dr. Doom.

I’m in the minority of people who thought the last two Fantastic Four movies were good, mostly because Dr. Doom was terrific in them and Michael Chiklis’s rubber Thing suit was awesome. Also Chris Evans was great in his first Marvel role as The Human Torch. It had its problems, but it stuck to the comic format and was a better movie than a lot of the comic movies of its time.

Looking at the new movie and trailer, all the powers look good, the first look at the Thing is nice and Dr. Doom’s cameo in the trailer is perfect. Can they give Dr. Doom a good story, or is it like Green Goblin in “Amazing Spider-Man 2” where his story is just generic hate from betrayal? The heroes will be fine, but the villain will make this movie.

For now the preview was perfect for hyping the movie.

Pickup of the week

This week doesn’t have a ton of amazing issues, but the most talked-about issue is “All-New X-Men” issue 40. This issue will reveal that original member Iceman, Bobby Drake, is gay. This is the first comic character revealed, or changed to be written, as gay, but he might be the biggest.

Iceman has been iconic in the X-Men universe from the beginning and his relationships with women have been the focus of many comics. The X-Men movies, which of course aren’t canon, revolve around his love of Rogue. The premise of “All-New X-Men” is that the original class is teleported into the future to help fix the world.

So, this is a younger Drake who is outed by Jean Grey reading his mind. Writer Brian Michael Bendis didn’t want much fanfare for this, just something small, but it’s becoming a big story. He also has added that this isn't the end of this story and his "Uncanny X-Men" issue 600 will pick up where this left off.

After that, “Star Wars” issue four will have Luke Skywalker travel back to Tatooine as Jason Aaron continues his very good series. Of course DC’s convergence is still going, the third issue of the main book comes out this week. Pick your favorite characters from the event and read like mad if you want to catch it all. ![](http://beacon.deseretconnect.com/beacon.gif?cid=274831&pid=4)
