SALT LAKE CITY — Smith’s Ballpark, home of the Salt Lake Bees, was named among the “10 Best Ballparks” by “Better Homes and Gardens” magazine in its May issue, according to a press release from the team.

The article aimed to judge stadiums around the nation based on their beauty, ability to cater to families and available food options. Smith’s Ballpark checked in eighth on the list, one of only two minor league stadiums to make the cut. Others include legendary Wrigley Field in Chicago and Fenway Park in Boston.

“We have always said that it is better at the ballpark and we are honored that Better Homes and Gardens agrees,” said Bees general manager Marc Amicone.

A major part of the selection was the view of the Wasatch Mountains available from the ballpark, according to the magazine. Other considerations included kid-friendly activities such as the “Bumble Express” train along the outfield walkway, as well as convenient access to public transit via a TRAX station located within easy walking distance.

“Last year, CBS Sports network did a nationally televised game here, and those guys were just amazed at the views,” said Steve Klauke, longtime Bees radio announcer. “So it’s a really special place to watch a game.”

The stadium is on display for all to enjoy, as the Bees continue their opening homestand of the season Tuesday through Friday at 6:35 p.m. nightly.
