SALT LAKE CITY- John Bowker singled in the top of the eighth to push the go-ahead run across the plate and there was no turning back as the Sacramento River Cats topped the Salt Lake Bees 5-3 in their home opener at Smith's Ballpark Friday night. The game was locked at 3-3 heading into the seventh inning before the River Cats put up single runs in both the eighth and the ninth innings to secure the victory
Cody Hall (1-0) collects his first win of the season for Sacramento as Atahualpa Severino is tagged with the blown save and the loss (0-1). Grant Green led the Bees offense, going three-for-five with two runs, one RBI and fell a home run short of the natural cycle. Kyle Kubitza and Roger Kieschnick each chipped in two hits. Bees starter Nick Tropeano pitched five innings, giving up three earned runs while striking out five.
