Salt Lake City marathon to close roads Saturday

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Marathon will close roads Saturday, beginning at midnight and ending at 6 p.m.

Each road will be closed for a different period of time, though Salt Lake City police officers will permit traffic through the race route at major intersections as the crowds allow, according to the marathon website.

Traffic from the Avenues neighborhoods can cross 11th Avenue at I Street, and routes above M Street will be clear of runners, according to the website.

Here is the road closure schedule:

200 E between Washington and Library Squares: 12 a.m.- 6 p.m.

500 S between 300 E and State St.: 3 a.m.- 3 p.m.

Federal Heights Dr. and 11th Ave.: 5:30 a.m.- 9 a.m.

Bonneville Blvd. and State St.: 5:45 a.m.- 9:30 a.m.

South Temple, 900 E and 1100 E: 5:45 a.m.-10:30 a.m.

1500 E, Sugarhouse Park and 1700 S: 6:15 a.m.-11 a.m.

2100 S, 1700 E, 2700 S and 2000 E: 6:15 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

2300 E and Holladay Blvd.: 6:15 a.m.- 12:15 p.m.

4500 S and 3900 S: 6:30 a.m.- 1 p.m.

Highland Dr., 2700 S and 600 E: 6:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Liberty Park (east side): 6:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Spectators are welcome to cheer on the marathon, half marathon, 10K, skate and 5K participants, according to the website. Here is a list of suggested locations for spectators to watch:

5:45 a.m. to 7:15 a.m.

The Avenues

11th Ave. and Bonneville Blvd.

6 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Sugarhouse Park

6:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Holladay City Hall

4580 South 2300 East

7:45 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Liberty Park

700 East 1000 South, East Loop

7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Washington and Library Squares

400 South 200 East

7:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
