WEST VALLEY CITY — A man charged with shooting and killing a dog while the owner was out walking his pet was arrested on a warrant Tuesday.
On Oct. 28, Kevin Knuth was walking his dog near 4035 S. 4665 West when Kristopher Scott Langford, 37, of West Valley City, "intentionally shot his dog with a pellet gun," according to charges filed in 3rd District Court. "The dog was taken to a vet where he later died."
Langford later told police he "just wanted to scare them." He was charged Feb. 2 with aggravated cruelty to animals and reckless endangerment, both class A misdemeanors, and illegal use of a weapon, a class B misdemeanor.
On March 4, an arrest warrant was issued after Langford failed to show up for a court hearing, according to a court docket. He was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Tuesday.
