PROVO — Utah scenery is featured in several big Hollywood movies, but the fourth annual Filmed in Utah Awards honored local filmmakers.

The Filmed in Utah Awards was created in 2012 by Orem resident Warren Workman “to spotlight those companies and individuals who have contributed to Utah’s entertainment and arts community,” according to a Filmed in Utah Awards news release. Workman said he is not a filmmaker, but he wanted to create a local version of the “Oscars” to recognize those in the community who are.

“I tried dabbling in filmmaking stuff and I was like, ‘Oh, this is too much work. Let’s celebrate the people who are doing a good job at it,’ ” Workman said.

The first awards banquets was held at the Provo Bombay House and awarded 17 winners. Saturday’s banquet was held at the Covey Center for the Arts and awards were presented to 38 winners from local film, television, Internet personalities and industry professionals. The event has grown substantially since it was started and now includes 36 categories and had 216 nominees from 540 submissions, Workman said.

"This Hollywood-styled awards show gives the opportunity for recognition to Utah’s talented film community," Workman said.

Workman said around 700 people attended the sold-out event and another 700 viewed the event when it was streamed online.

Local celebrities Studio C and Lindsey Stirling were among those who received awards Saturday. Here is a complete list of the 2015 Filmed in Utah Award winners:
