WEST VALLEY CITY — A woman sustained minor injuries Sunday when she was assaulted by a man who came into her apartment, officials said.

The woman was on her patio at about 12:30 a.m. when the man approached her and asked if he could use her phone, according to the West Valley City Police Department.

He then “forced his way into her apartment” and they fought before he fled the scene, the police department reported.

West Valley City police officers responded to the area with K-9 units and tracked the man into a nearby neighborhood, but didn’t find him, police said.

Nothing was taken from the home, and the woman was not transported to the hospital, police said.
