STAR VALLEY, Wyo. — The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the groundbreaking for the Star Valley, Wyoming temple Wednesday morning.
The groundbreaking will take place April 25, according to a news release.
The LDS temple, which will be the first in Wyoming, will be built “east of U.S. Highway 89 on the Haderlie Farm property south of Afton.”
It is expected to take about 2 years to construct the Star Valley temple. Local church leaders in Wyoming will announce more information and extend invitations for the groundbreaking in the coming weeks.
Church President Thomas S. Monson announced the temple in October 2011 at General Conference. Open house and dedication dates will be announced after the temple is completed.
The Star Valley temple will serve members who live in the Western part of Wyoming.
