OGDEN — Maple Mountain cruised to a first-round victory over Mountain Crest Tuesday, beating the Mustangs 66-55.

The Golden Eagles scored the first points of the game and never took their foot off the gas in a 11-point win. The Mustangs cut the lead to 10 points in the fourth quarter, but were never able to dig themselves out of the early deficit.

The Golden Eagles were lead by Kade Poulsen, who scored 28 points. He added 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Mountain Crest’s Jackson Brenchley had 30 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals in the loss.

Maple Mountain will play Olympus Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Dee Events Center in Ogden.
