PROVO – Brigham Young University and Utah State University announced the signing of a contract that will prolong their running series up through 2020, adding two games to the schedule already in place.

Utah State will host the Cougars on October 4, 2019, while BYU welcomes the Aggies on October 2, 2020. Both games will be on Friday nights.

The contract will continue the rotating home-and-away schedule between the two in-state rivals that’s been in place since 2012. The schools have met a total of 84 times dating back to 1922, making Utah State the second-most frequent opponent for the Cougars behind only the University of Utah with 89. BYU holds the edge on the Aggies to this point, 46-35-3.

“I believe it’s important to continue this longstanding football series with Utah State. There is a lot of history and tradition between the two universities and the recent games have been very competitive,” Tom Holmoe said in a statement. “Scott Barnes has done an outstanding job at USU, and the Aggies have gained strength in all areas of their football program. I've loved the in-state rivalry with USU as a player, coach and administrator and look forward to these future games.”
