LAYTON — Police are searching for people involved in a drive-by shooting. Earlier, officers arrested a man accused of holding two teens against their will at the same address.

Around 10 p.m. Monday, police were called to the Park Village mobile home park near 300 N. Main Street on reports of four to six shots fired in a drive-by shooting, according to Sgt. Riley Richins of the Layton Police Department.

When officers arrived, they found a vehicle with bullet holes. Officers also discovered one of the bullets entered through the living room window of a neighboring home, Richins said. Two children were in the room at the time, but no injuries were reported.

Officers then received information of an incident involving a man with a gun holding two 16-year-old boys against their will at the same location where the drive-by shooting occurred.

A SWAT team responded and the situation ended peacefully.

Police arrested Maurice Call, 22, and booked him into the Davis County Jail for investigation of unlawful detention, restricted person in possession of a firearm, child endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Richins.

Police said the accused gunman told investigators he did not want the teens speaking with police.

When officers entered the home with a warrant, they found evidence of the hostage situation as well as drug activity, Richins said.

Police are still searching for a metallic blue truck with loud exhaust, and several people involved in the drive-by shooting.

Updates will be posted as they become available.
