SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz won its tiebreaker with the Boston Celtics Friday afternoon, giving the organization the No. 4 spot in the upcoming NBA draft.
At the conclusion of the regular season, the Jazz and Celtics finished with an identical record, meaning a tiebreaker was in order to determine draft seeding. On Friday, the NBA conducted a random drawing, selecting the Jazz as the team to pick in the No. 4 spot at the NBA draft on June 26.
That order, however, will not be finalized until May 20 when the NBA will conduct its NBA Draft Lottery. The Jazz have a 10.4 percent chance of getting the No. 1 pick in the draft, and have more than a 90 percent chance of getting a top 6 pick.
As it currently stands, most NBA draft experts have the No. 4 pick being the Australian 6-foot-6 point guard Dante Exum.
Several other teams in the league were also in a tiebreaker for the draft. Their results are as follows: Brooklyn won a tiebreaker with Washington; Chicago won a tiebreaker with Toronto; Portland won a tiebreaker with Miami and Houston and Houston then won a tiebreaker with Miami.
The following is the projected order of the draft prior to the NBA Draft Lottery:
