COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- On the day that Team USA determined its official 12-man roster for the World University Games, BYU's Tyler Haws and his teammates played before a crowd for the first time.

Saturday night's scrimmage between Team USA and a group of Colorado Springs-area collegians was comprised of five separate ten-minute periods, with each period serving as its own game.

Team USA won four of the five periods, ending up on the positive end of a 123-89 cumulative scoreline. Haws was among the most productive players on the floor, scoring 16 points (7-for-9 FG; 2-for-4 FT), with five rebounds and an assist in approximately 20 minutes of play.

Many BYU fans were spotted in the crowd at the U.S. Olympic Training Center's Sports Center I complex, and their support for Haws was audible as the Cougar guard gave his team a shot in the arm during his time on the floor.

The scrimmage was the second in as many days for Team USA, but the first since the final cut-down to 12 players. Players who either didn't play very much or played tight on Friday night were much more involved and more comfortable one night later.

Head Coach Bob McKillop is giving his team the morning off tomorrow, followed by an afternoon practice--Team USA's last stateside session before the squad departs on Monday for its two-day journey to Kazan, Russia.

Competition at the World University Games starts on Sunday, July 7th as Team USA meets the United Arab Emirates.
