WEST VALLEY CITY — Eric Rhead claimed the first ever Comcast Super Stock Shoot Out checkered flag at Rocky Mountain Raceways, an ASA Member Track, on Saturday, June 8.

Rhead started the race in fourth and gradually positioned himself to lead the field to the checkered flag.

Rhead once again contended with defending Comcast Super Stock champion, #25 Dillion Lawrence. Coming off of a caution on lap 11, Lawrence shot out ahead of the pack and led the race until a planned caution on lap 25.

The Comcast Super Stock Shoot Out included the planned caution flag, to allow teams to make adjustments and refuel mid-race. On the restart, the field was inverted 5 positions, putting #95 Greg Young out front, with #29 Cale Perkins in second, Rhead in third, #27 Tony Walters in fourth, and Lawrence in fifth.

Rhead quickly moved to the outside, passing Perkins and Young for command of the field. Lawrence followed suit and climbed back to second. Rhead was able to put a lid on any attempted passes against him. Lawrence landed a second place finish, #28 Travis Walker finished in third, Young finished in fourth, and Perkins rounded out the top five.

Rhead has prevailed in the 2013 Comcast Super Stock season, picking up back to back wins this week and the season opener on May 4.

#89 Eric Barlow, in the Focus Midget division, also picked up back to back wins with victories Saturday, June 1 and Saturday, June 8. #13 Chuck Groat finished in second tonight, #15 Greg Fuette in third, #24 Jim Waters in fourth, and #55 Jeff Kelly in fifth.

Additional main event winners included #24P Nick Pepe (Winged Sprints,) #13 Tim Fahrner (Figure-8 Cars,) and #13 Train Six Feet Under (Western States Equipment Figure-8 Trains.)

"Cowboy" Kenny Bartram electrified the crowd during tonight's intermission and took the America First Credit Union Super Oval to new heights. Bartram's Steel Rodeo Tour included high-flying tricks and backflips on Rocky Mountain Raceways' 3/8 mile oval.

ASA weekly racing will continue on Saturday, June 15 with the Lucas Oil Modifieds' Bilstein Shocks Great Salt Lake 75. The Lucas Oil Modifieds Series, presented by LoanMart, is the fastest-growing regional racing series in the nation. The series foundation is the consistent enforcement of a limited rules package that encourages close, crowd-pleasing competition and both race fans and race teams have responded favorably. This is the first ever appearance of the Lucas Oil Modifieds to Utah. ASA Weekly Racing will include Focus Midgets, Hornets, Mini Cups, and Double Deckers. Gates open at 4pm and the green flags drop at 6:15pm.
